There's
no need to hang up your binoculars and outdoor gear just
because the busy holiday season is over. Why not get
away from it all by enjoying a short holiday or weekend
break on Mull this Winter? Mull has not been
experiencing the extreme weather the rest of the UK
seems to have encountered but it still looks like a
stunning 'Winter Wonderland'.
Mull is NOT closed for
business. Most of the shops are still open, along with
pubs, restaurants, hotels, self-catering holiday
cottages, guest houses and B&B's -
there are many special deals on
accommodation to be had
during these Winter months.
Coming to the island
during Winter can be immensely rewarding as the
amazing wildlife is still here. Gordon Buchanan the
presenter and cameraman was here only this week filming
for a specially commissioned programme ' Snow Watch'
shown on BBC2 on 13th January.
Another visitor to the island this January has been The
Urban Birder, David Lindo. David gave an excellent talk
to the Isle of Mull Bird Club and was lucky enough to
spot White-tailed Eagles, Golden Eagles and a Jack Snipe
during his visit. The UK's only Sea Eagle Hide on the
Isle of Mull is still open for business, to hear the
latest news on how our Celebrity Sea Eagles are faring

Mull
Bird Club held their annual 'Big Bird Count' on Saturday
9th January and despite sub-zero temperatures a total of
81 different species of bird were recorded.
The migratory songbirds that enlivened Mull's woodlands
in Spring might have departed but these have been
replaced by Divers, ducks, geese, grebes and swans which
arrive to take advantage of Mull's mild Winter climate.
Many of the Wildlife Tour Operators are
still conducting trips over the Winter and
Mull
Magic is specialising in
Winter Wildlife Weekends. For more information go to
