Time
Team is a British television series shown on Channel 4.
Presented by actor Tony Robinson (Baldrick of Blackadder fame) a
team of specialists carry out an archaeological dig in three
days, with Tony Robinson explaining the process in layman’s
terms. In the Summer of 2009 Time Team came to Mull to
investigate a potential early Christian chapel, a site
discovered in 2008 by local walkers who felt that the features
they had located were worthy of further investigation.
Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of
Scotland (RCAHMS) members initially undertook a survey of the
site in the forest and found that the features contained an
artificial terrace upon which was a stone built structure and a
second stone built enclosure identified as a possible burial
ground.

Time Team came to Tobermory to undertake a three day
archaeological evaluation, working alongside the RCAHMS, SRP,
the Forestry Commission Scotland and FIRAT Archaeological
Services to try and resolve the site as well as determine
whether there was an associated settlement to this seemingly
isolated ruin.
Gossip was rife in the usually quiet town of Tobermory. Dead
bodies? Emergency 999 calls to the police, filming suspended?
Rumour or fact? Find out yourself by watching the Time Team
programme on Mull which will be shown on Channel 4 on Sunday
25th April 2010 at 17.30 Location of the
site and more information about the findings to follow after the
programme
has been broadcast
