	Spa Shop
	There is an extremely well stocked Spa shop at Salen, right next door to the post office and launderette. Here you can buy fresh meat, vegetables, bread, tinned provisions, soft and alcoholic drinks and newspapers. DVD films are also available to rent out. Everything you need for your holiday on the island.

	Rowley's Garage and Fuel
	Rowley's Filling Station in Salen sells diesel, unleaded petrol, oil, car accessories, confectionery, soft drinks and ice cream. It is open 7 days a week but please check on the number below for opening times.

	Salen Post Office and Launderette
	Salen Post Office is situated alongside the Spa shop in the centre of the village. It is open 6 days a week and as well as the usual post office services it also sells a range of cards and stationery supplies. The launderette is located behind the office. 	Red Cross Charity Book Shop and Wheelchair Hire
	Please check on the telephone number below if making a special visit but the Red Cross Charity Book Shop is located at the entrance to the hospital and is usually open Tuesday and Friday mornings 10.30 - 12 noon. Wheelchair hire is also available. For more details contact Irene Patterson.

	Salen Surgery and medical centre is located on Pier Road in the village. Please call the telephone number below to check on opening times or if you need assistance.

	Salen Primary School
	Salen Primary School also has a Gaelic Unit and Gaelic pre-school. This is wonderful village school and very much part of the local community. The school children each year name the local sea-eagle chicks, last year it was 'Mara' meaning 'sea' and 'Brèagha' meaning 'beauty'.

	Salen Hospital - Dunaros
	The original hospital in Salen was built in the 1960's to serve the population of the island. The present day building was converted from an old people's home in the 1980's and there are still a number of residential beds. Minor injuries can be treated here. A grass airfield was built in 1965 by the Royal Engineers a mile away at Glenforsa for use of an air ambulance. For more information on the airfield click here.
